ABOUT ME

Meet Coach Carol Bertogal

For over 25 years, I struggled with every diet imaginable, only to realise that the real challenge begins when the diet ends. As an emotional eater, food was my comfort during difficult times. Growing up, trauma and bullying led me to seek solace in food. I remember binge-eating an entire Victoria sponge cake with double cream in one sitting — a temporary escape, but always followed by guilt and shame. This cycle of starving, binging, and secretly eating became my reality, and my body betrayed me as the weight piled on.

At 16, I joined my first slimming club. I lost weight but eventually gave up, frustrated by the restrictive choices and knowing that my emotional struggles were never addressed. Life kept throwing challenges my way, and food was always my coping mechanism.

In 2013, I got married and had our first child. Tragically, he was stillborn at 40 weeks. In my grief, I clung to the weight as a painful reminder of what I had lost. As I began to heal, we were blessed with two more children, but the cycle of dieting and failing to keep the weight off continued for years.

In December 2023, I reached a breaking point. I was tired of feeling exhausted, of clothes not fitting, and of being unhappy. I decided it was time to rewire my mindset. I took everything I had learned and committed to a journey of consistency, patience, and self-discipline. Over the course of a year, I lost over 4 stones and have kept it off.

Now, as I near the finish line of this transformation, I want to help others find the same freedom. I know exactly how it feels to be stuck in that cycle.
